At 42-37, the Fish sit a game and a half behind the Braves and seven behind the Pythagorus-defying Nationals.
The Brewers, meanwhile, wasted a golden opportunity to sweep the Pirates on Sunday when their bullpen suffered through a late-inning implosion. The surging Astros have scratched and clawed their way up from the cellar and into third place, a half game ahead of the Crew and just two back of the suddenly ice cold Cubs.
