The West Coast swing through San Diego and Los Angeles did not go well for the Brewers, who return home with a disappointing 26-30 record and just three wins in their last ten games. Awaiting them at Miller Park are the New York Yankees, baseball’s most storied franchise but a team that has also lost seven of their last ten. The Bronx Bombers head to Miller Park for the first time in the stadium’s brief history having not faced off with Milwaukee since 1997. The Yanks find themselves in an unfamiliar place, fourth in the American League East, six games behind the Orioles and three back of the rival Red Sox. They are sporting an even .500 record and have scored exactly the same number of runs (291) as they have allowed.
“Everybody knows that it’s the Yankees,” catcher Damian Miller told Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. “You get to see some of the best players in the game. Everybody gives them a lot of heat but when you watch them play, it’s the way you’re supposed to play.”
“Even as players, we’re still fans. We get a chance to see ‘A-Rod’ play and Derek Jeter and Sheffield. Having them in Milwaukee will be exciting. It’s going to be great for the fans.”
