The last time the Brewers faced the Dodgers the surprising National League West frontrunners were 9-2 and, after sweeping a two-game series, they left Milwaukee with an 11-2 record and perched comfortably atop their division. The Brewers, meanwhile, were just 5-8 and in the midst of a seven-game losing streak.
A lot has changed since then.
Their win on Wednesday night in San Diego snapped the Crew’s four-game losing streak and improved their record to 25-27, nine games behind the first-place Cardinals and two-and-a-half behind the second-place Cubs. The Dodgers, on the other hand, were swept by Chicago and have fallen all the way back to .500 at 26-26, six-and-a-half back of the Padres and three-and-a-half behind the surprising Diamondbacks.
The two teams’ 2005 series concludes this weekend as they get together for four games at Chavez Ravine. The Brewers are 17-34 against Los Angeles in their franchise’s history and 8-16 at Dodger Stadium.
