I submitted an entry in Baseball Prospectus’ new Predictatron competition today. Here are my playoff predictions:

American League Division Series:
Boston Red Sox over Minnesota Twins in 4 games
Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim over New York Yankees in 5 games

National League Division Series:
St. Louis Cardinals over San Diego Padres in 4 games
Los Angeles Dodgers over Philadelphia Phillies in 5 games

American League Championship Series:
Boston Red Sox over Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in 6 games

National League Championship Series:
Los Angeles Dodgers over St. Louis Cardinals in 6 games

World Series:
Los Angeles Dodgers over Boston Red Sox in 7 games

There are some real longshots here but I really like the Dodgers and I think they will surprise a lot of people. I also think the NL Wild Card will come out of the West as both LA and San Diego are quality teams and the parity in the NL East will result in all four non-Nationals teams finishing within five games of the division but with 80-something win totals. I have the Phillies taking the East with 91 wins followed by the Braves, Marlins, and Mets (in that order) and the Padres topping the Braves in the Wild Card by a game.

My MVPs are Albert Pujols and Alex Rodriguez. My Cy Young winners are Ben Sheets and Johan Santana. My Rookies of the Year are J.J. Hardy and Nick Swisher. The Brewers will go 79-83 and finish third in the Central behind St. Louis and Chicago.
