Just days after the team announced its decision to carry eleven pitchers to start the season, the Brewers reconsidered on Saturday and purchased the contract of left-hander Tommy Phelps. His roster spot comes at the expense of Trent Durrington, the speedy utility man who was initially slated to become the team’s primary pinch-runner and 25th man. Instead, he’ll start the year at Triple-A Nashville while Phelps becomes the seventh member of the Crew’s pen.
