I’ve done this before, but a post on Brewerfan.net motivated me to take the Political Compass test. Predictably, it pegged me as a “Left Libertarian.” Here is the visual representation of my political ideology:

<p>In terms of the U.S. Presidential elections, the candidate with whom I most agree is Socialist <a href="http://www.waltbrownforpresident.org/" title="Walt Brown for President">Walt Brown</a>, a 78-year old former lawyer and State Senator from Oregon whose <a href="http://www.waltbrownforpresident.org/platform.html" title="Walt Brown's Platform">platform</a> emphasizes what is known as <a href="http://www.chomsky.info/interviews/19970303.htm">radical democracy</a>. Both <a href="http://www.votenader.org/" title="Ralph Nader for President">Ralph Nader</a> and <a href="http://www.votecobb.org/" title="David Cobb for President">David Cobb</a>, the Green Party candidate, are also in the same quadrant of the compass while <a href="http://www.badnarik.org/" title="Michael Badnarik for President">Michael Badnarik</a>, the Libertarian candidate, is surprisingly found on the "Right Libertarian" side of the spectrum. Predictably, <a href="http://www.johnkerry.com/" title="John Kerry for President">John Kerry</a> is only marginally more agreeable than is <a href="http://www.georgewbush.com/" title="GWB for President">George W. Bush</a>, with both located firmly in the "Right Authoritarian" camp.</p>
<p>Anyway, this is all old news for anyone who is likely reading my site. Still, it is disappointing that our American political system limits the choices we can make so severely, effectively confining everyone to a nation ruled by "Right Authoritarians."</p>
