Since joining the Brewers’ starting rotation on May 4th, Victor Santos has provided a high degree of consistency, effectively keeping his team in the game while racking up bullpen-saving innings. Over the last month, however, the 27-year old right-hander appeared to be hitting the proverbial wall. After racking up 10 and a third innings at Triple-A, Santos had pitched 114 and two-thirds frames at the big league level, all but four as a member of the rotation. Santos himself admitted recently that has arm has been “dragging,” something one could reasonably attribute to fatigue. And given his innings totals in previous seasons, that seemed like as appropriate an explanation as any for Santos’ recent slide.
