Chris Capuano celebrated his 26th birthday on Thursday, but his performance on the mound did little to put the left-hander in a festive mood. Pitching for the first time since elbow tenderness forced him to miss his last scheduled start, Capuano was plagued by poor command and spent much of his afternoon turning and watching as the Cubs’ sluggers mashed ball after ball over his head and into (or over) the outfield. In front of another sellout crowd at Miller Park, the offensive outburst secured a much-needed series win for Chicago and helped Greg Maddux win his 301st career game.
