I just finished playing around with my blogger template and the new conditional tags are mighty cool. At this point, there are really no “I need this” features that blogger doesn’t provide. I could install Moveable Type or WordPress or roll my own content management system, but what’s the point? For my purposes, blogger is perfect… its free, easy-to-use, and customizable enough to still be somewhat robust. Plus, the new redesign is silky smooth and the interface is better than ever. How can you go wrong?
Anyway, the “redesign” is complete. I used the conditional tags to develop separate pages for the index, the archives, and the individual post pages. The modifications should help those that come here via google figure out where they are and maybe find some more content that interests them. The archives are now usable, which is great, thanks to a listing of individual post titles instead of the old all-posts-on-one-page madness. Except for the stray un-escaped ampersand or similar tomfoolery, all pages now validate as XHTML 1.0 Strict. Kudos to me.
Now back to your regularly scheduled occasional blog postings.
