Off the field, the Brewers organization couldn’t be more pleased. For the second time this season, the Cubs came to Miller Park and brought with them sellout crowds of North Side faithful. This week’s four-game series set a new attendance record at Miller Park, drawing in 167,136 fans to best their previous mark of 154,265 set in late June and early July of 2001 against the Astros. In seven home games against the Cubs this season, the Brewers have drawn 296,738 fans and as a result are well ahead of their attendance pace from a year ago.
On the field, it’s been a different story. With the exception of a brief offensive outburst on Wednesday night against Kerry Wood, the Brewers’ offensive woes continued and the Cubs took advantage, besting Milwaukee three games to one.
