As nearly everyone suspected, Roger Clemens has been named the National League’s starting pitcher for Tuesday’s All-Star Game. While his numbers aren’t the best in the league, his status as one of the best pitchers of his generation as well as the fact that the game is being played in his home park make this an easy call for Jack McKeon.

Who is really deserving, though?

None other than the Brewers’ own Ben Sheets, owner of the highest VORP among pitchers in all of baseball. Sheets (42.1) is followed by Jason Schmidt (41.3), AL Starter Mark Mulder (40.6), Curt Schilling (40.3), Tom Glavine (38.5), and Clemens (37.9).

In other words, the Brewers’ currently can lay claim to having the best starting pitcher in baseball. How cool is that?
