This one has been linked pretty heavily, but there is a phenomenal article in the current issue of The New Yorker about the knuckeball. Written by Ben McGrath, it chronicles everything from the pitches’ history to the men who’ve mastered it to its future, likely found in the careers of Red Sox farmhand Charlie Zink and high school hurler Sean Flaherty. This is one of the most impressive baseball articles I’ve read in a long time, and it covers a topic that is especially interesting to me. If you haven’t checked it out yet, I highly recommend it.
